How to Save TikTok Videos on Desktop, Android and iPhone
A preview without a file usually calls for checking the saving step and download location. Work through the stages below instead of repeatedly submitting the same link.
Find the step that did not finish
- If no video or photos appear, open the original TikTok post, check that it is still public and copy a fresh share URL.
- If a result appears but saving fails, follow the dialog message for extension downloading or manual saving.
- Open browser download history and confirm completion before looking for the local file.
- Play the file to check its content, sound and duration. Retry only the items that did not finish.
Find the file on desktop, Android or iPhone
Desktop: open Chrome or your browser download history and show the file in its folder. Check extension downloads there too.
Android: check browser download history and the Downloads folder in your file manager, rather than only the gallery.
iPhone / iPad: check Safari download history and the download location in Files. After saving, a compatible video may also offer Save Video through the share menu.
When to use the extension or manual browser saving
A direct-save failure does not necessarily mean the post is invalid. On desktop, follow the dialog prompt for the FreeSaveVideo extension. Refresh the website after installation and retry.
On mobile or without a working extension, use the dialog save or copy-link action to open the media. If a player opens, use the browser download, share or save action where available. The source can still refuse access.
Separate extraction from saving
- No media result: check the original post, link type and extraction error.
- Preview but no local file: check the saving action, download history and free storage.
Troubleshoot the saving step
Why did a previously working media link stop opening?
Media links can expire. Parse the original TikTok post URL again to obtain a fresh result instead of reusing an old media URL.
Does extension download started mean the file is saved?
No. Confirm completion in browser download history and open the local file to check it.
Only download publicly accessible content. Respect copyrights and give credit to creators.
