Start with the video, not the channel

A public video

Copy the full rutube.ru/video/ address from an individual video page.

A specific Short

Use rutube.ru/shorts/ followed by the video ID. The Shorts feed itself does not identify a video.

An embedded player

A rutube.ru/play/embed/ address identifies the same individual video. Channel and playlist pages are outside this form.

From a RUTUBE link to a local file

  1. Open the individual public video or Short and copy its full page link.

  2. Paste the link above and start preparing the download. Follow processing in the task queue.

  3. Save the completed result, then open the MP4 to check its picture and source sound.

App offline viewing and an MP4 are different

A video cached inside an app is not the same as a file in your Downloads folder. This workflow prepares an MP4 for saving and playback outside the source app.

Being able to watch a video in your own RUTUBE account does not establish public access for the downloader. Region and source access restrictions still apply.

Why preparation can take a while

RUTUBE can deliver a video as many stream segments. They need to be collected into a playable file before saving. Duration, source availability and network conditions affect the wait.

Keep the page open while processing. A task appearing in the queue means it has started, not that a complete MP4 is already on your device.

Questions before you save

Can I save RUTUBE Shorts?

This form accepts individual public /shorts/ links. A result depends on the source exposing an accessible stream; the Shorts feed, removed clips and restricted videos are not supported inputs.

Can I choose any resolution?

The result can only use a rendition available from RUTUBE. A quality preference cannot create 1080p or 4K if the source does not expose it.

Does this download a whole RUTUBE playlist?

No. This page handles one video link at a time and does not expand a RUTUBE channel or playlist.

Why does a playable RUTUBE link still fail?

Public pages may have region or access restrictions, or the stream may be temporarily unavailable. Check the original video, copy its page URL again and retry later if it still plays publicly.

Where is the finished MP4?

Follow the queue through processing and use Save when a result is ready. Your browser controls the final destination, usually Downloads. On a phone, check the browser downloads or Files app before looking in the photo gallery.
