Where did the Reddit audio go?

Reddit-hosted video can deliver the picture and sound separately. Saving just the video resource can leave you with a silent file.

A separate audio track

The downloader checks for an available matching audio track. A GIF, a silent upload, or an unavailable audio source cannot supply sound.

One playable download

When both tracks are accessible, they are combined for saving. The download queue shows processing and saving progress; starting a task does not mean the file is already saved.

How to download Reddit videos

  1. Copy the original Reddit video post link from its Share menu.
  2. Paste the post link in this form and start the download. Video mode keeps source audio when available.
  3. Follow the task in the download queue. When saving finishes, play the file to check both picture and sound.

FAQ

Will every Reddit video download with sound?

Only if an accessible audio track exists. If the Reddit post plays silently, no downloader can recreate a missing soundtrack. If it plays with sound but your file is silent, retry the original post link and check the finished file.

Should I paste a post link or a v.redd.it resource?

Use the Reddit post link, including a supported Reddit share link. It supplies the post context used to find the media. This form does not accept raw CDN resources or subreddit feeds.

What about GIFs, external videos, and removed posts?

A native GIF may be saved as GIF and has no audio track. A post linking to another video platform is not a Reddit-hosted video; use that platform's downloader. Deleted or inaccessible media cannot be recovered here.
